The Historic Ghats
Bithoor is small village in the rural parts of Kanpur, located on the banks of Ganges. Religiously important, Bithoor played an important role in the freedom struggle of India. The place is said to be existing from the times when the earth was created. According to legends, Brahma came here to start the human race. Since then Bithoor is also called Brahmavart, meaning, the place of Brahma. Legend also has it that Sita, wife of Lord Rama, came to live at the ashram of the sage Valmiki, after Rama expelled her from Ayodhya. During 1857 war of independence, Nanarao Peshwa and Tatya Tope made Bithoor as there centre for activities and stayed in the fort, which is now in ruins. There are many small and big temples, monuments and historic places in Bithoor. There as many as 30 beautiful ghats in Bithoor.

Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary
 
Location: The Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary is situated 45 Km from Kanpur, on Lucknow highway.

Best Season: The sanctuary can be visited all year round, but the best season to watch the migratory birds is November to March.

Major Wildlife Attractions: Migratory birds, Shovards, Parakeets, Purple Moorhen and Deers.

IIT Kanpur
 
IIT Kanpur is one of the best IITs of India. The Institute is located on the Grand Trunk Road in the outskirts of the industrial town of Kanpur. Rail Link Kanpur is well connected by trains from all parts of India and a mere five hours by train from New Delhi. I.I.T. Kanpur is around 16 kilometers away from the Kanpur central railway station. Taxi (Rs 150) and auto (Rs 100) services are available from the railway station on hire. Direct air link from Delhi or Mumbai to Lucknow are available. There are several flights that connect New Delhi and Lucknow (1 hr. flight). Reaching IITK From station: One can take an auto-rikshaw from the pre-paid booth. The fair is Rs 100/-. The cheaper way is to take a rikshaw from Ghantaghar (city side railway station) to Bara Chouraha. The rikshaw fair is Rs 8/-. From Bara Chouraha, pick up a shared auto directly to IIT. The fair is Rs 8/-.

Geological Survey of India, Lucknow
 
This centre imparts field training in systematic geological mapping in the Himalayas and other allied disciplines such as Biostratigraphy, Engineering Geology, Quaternary Geology and Glaciology. In order to acquaint the participants with the regional geological setup and various geotechnical problems a number of excursions are conducted to study important geological sections and engineering projects. Besides training is also imparted on project management and administration for JAG level officers at this center.

Taj Mahal, Agra
 
The Taj Mahal (also "the Taj") is considered the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements from Persian, Indian, and Islamic architectural styles. In 1983, the Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was cited as "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage."
 
While the white domed marble mausoleum is its most familiar component, the Taj Mahal is actually an integrated complex of structures. Building began around 1632 and was completed around 1653, and employed thousands of artisans and craftsmen.The construction of the Taj Mahal was entrusted to a board of architects under imperial supervision including Abd ul-Karim Ma'mur Khan, Makramat Khan, and Ustad Ahmad Lahauri.Lahauri is generally considered to be the principal designer.
